** Principal Update **
We’ve reached the end of another school term—how quickly the weeks have flown by! Next term is shaping up to be an exciting one, with the Kingston State School team planning a range of engaging activities for our amazing students. This term has been filled with many wonderful celebrations, and a quick look through this edition of the newsletter highlights just some of the fantastic moments of teaching, learning, and achievement we've shared.
I’d like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the dedication of our staff and students, and to thank our parents and carers for their continued support and partnership.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back to learning on Tuesday 7th October.
Have a wonderful holiday.

Student Leadership Event
On Monday 8 September, 13 of our student leaders attended a Leadership event at Kingston State College. They were joined by the College student leaders and student leaders from 4 other local primary schools. Some of the students have shared their thoughts of the day.
At Kingston State College we did lots of fun activities like building the tallest tower made from marshmallows and spaghetti and we had to hold hands and try and go through a hoop. What I learnt about this leadership day is to communicate with others and you don’t need a badge to be a leader, and I also liked meeting other people. The leaders at Kingston College were really nice and made it really fun.
Zara (School Captain)
At the high school we met other leaders from other schools and met the school captains Shay and Jack. We learnt about what is a god leader, for example be kind to others, be a god role model, help others and be respectful.
Luca (School Captain)
All of us had fun and we got to meet other captains from other schools. The high school captains got us to work with others for the activities. We worked on teamwork and speaking our own voice. It was great and fun
Chevonta (Ngaram House Captain)
It is cool that they let Year 7 cook for the school, even though there are older students. It was nice to see the Year 12’s go and play.
Kelvin (Mibunn House Captain)
We played games that included teamwork and green came fourth, blue came third, yellow came second and red was first. I was in red. It was a great day meeting new people.
Oliver (Gowanda House Captain)
When I went to Kingston State College, I was first very excited and nervous but after a bit I was making new friends and we were doing activities and having A LOT of fun and if I can, I would do it again!
Ivy (Ngaram House Captain)
When I went to Kingston State College I had so much fun doing all the activities, and I liked meeting leaders from other schools. The leaders from the high school were really nice and I would definitely go there again to do other activities.
John (Arts Captain)
At the high school all the students around the area came to Kingston State College and did a bunch of fun activities. We did dance off dancing and fun and exciting activities. My favourite one of all was the hula hoop chain and you could not let go of the person next to you. We worked as a team.
Lexi (Gowanda House Captain)
At the high school we did some games in teams. There were 4 teams, and we joined in an obstacle course, human knot, cup stack and pasta and marshmallow tower. We got to have a sausage and popper for lunch.
Evie (Cultural Captain)
Sports Celebrations
On Wednesday several of our Year 5 students competed in a primary school gala day at Kingston State College. They had an opportunity to play volleyball, basketball, touch football and soccer. Our students represented the school proudly and finished off 2nd place overall. Touch football, soccer and basketball finals were all nail bitter finishes. In particular, the touch football final game ended with Daeshan diving to stop a game winning try attempt from Woodridge North and Osman scoring the game winning try at the buzzer. Well done for the all the students who competed.
Student Celebration
Congratulations to all our students who received Student of the Week certificates this week. We enjoyed celebrating student achievement in reading and wellbeing.

Enrol now for High school
If your child is in Year 6, now is the time to enrol in high school. If you enrol at Kingston State College before 28 November 2025, you go into the draw to win an ipad. It is important to secure your child’s place before the end of the year.
R U Ok? Any day.
It’s about what we can all do to help our friends, classmates and family to get through tough times. To get everyone having more conversations to check in with each other to see how they’re doing.
The senior classes were encouraged to think about who they can regularly check in with and ask R U OK? Any Day. Or if they require support, were encouraged to reach out to someone. They were asked to take some time this week to do something nice for themself - to make sure they were refilling their cup and looking after themselves.

Reading and writing at home and school – The Third Teacher
As we near the end of term, our teachers have been reflecting on the impact of their Third Teacher- the learning environment.
As your child’s parent, you are their First Teacher, nurturing their earliest learning experiences. Their Second Teacher is their classroom educator, guiding their learning each day. The Third Teacher is the physical and social space around them- shaping how and what children learn. When thoughtfully designed, this environment becomes an active partner in learning, sparking curiosity, fostering independence, and encouraging collaboration.
When you step into one of our classrooms, you’ll see how we work alongside students to build a collaborative classroom culture. This includes visible learning intentions, exemplars, student work, and co-constructed success criteria and artefacts. We also carefully consider the layout: reducing clutter, ensuring smooth movement, and providing easy access to resources.
Investing in our Third Teacher is investing in our students’ success.

Bravehearts’ Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Show
We are hosting the Bravehearts’ Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Show for students in Prep to Year 3 on the 16 October. The show is a fun, interactive live incursion Starring Bravehearts’ lovable lion cub ‘Ditto’ and a specially trained facilitator. Bravehearts’ Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure show teaches young children essential personal safety skills and
knowledge using age-appropriate language, song, and dance.
Bravehearts’ Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Show is underpinned by the following principles of personal safety:
- Differentiating safe and unsafe feelings
- Recognising the body’s warning signs
- Body ownership and that it is ok to say no
- Helping children name public and private parts using anatomically correct names
- Reinforcing that there is no secret that children cannot tell someone
- What to do if children feel unsafe or unsure
Bravehearts aims to teach children these essential principles through a behaviour approach to content delivery, interactive games, and catchy, age-appropriate songs. The key to increasing children’s resilience and decreasing their vulnerability is education.
Bravehearts’ Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Program is aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework and the Australian Curriculum.
Please contact the office if you have questions or concerns about your child attending this incursion
