** Principal's Update **

It's hard to believe that we are half way through Term 3!  The term has gone very fast.  We have had many different events happening, and will continue throughout the term.  I want to thank and acknowledge our staff who plan these events for our students.  Please remember to read the panel to the left of the newsletter here for upcoming events across the school.

I also wanted to pass on a final reminder for parents and carers - don’t miss your chance to provide feedback in the School Opinion Survey before it closes on 22 August. Parents, carers and students in selected year levels have been emailed a link to participate. Your responses are highly valued and will help to shape better learning environments. Find out more on the School Opinion Survey webpage or contact school administration.

Our Student Dress Code has recently been updated.  This can be found below and will also be uploaded to our school website.   Whilst most students are wearing the correct uniform each day, we have seen a rise in jumpers that are not part of the uniform being worn.  I'd also like to take this opportunity to mention that our Lost Property, located just outside the Student Administration door, is still accumulating with items that are not named.  It is very difficult for staff to return items to the correct student, if the items are not named.

Please also note that tomorrow morning, Monday 18th August, students will need to line up in the tuckshop shed before school.  This is because some works are happening in the Hall tomorrow. Breakfast Club will run from the undercover area as well, so students will not miss out.

Thank you,

Robyn Marshall

Principal

** Head of Department - Curriculum Update **

Last week we celebrated national Science Week. Each day our students participated in a range of lunchtime activities that helped spark a love for science. On Thursday afternoon all our classes participated in science-based activities. We had classes investigating shadows, the Solar System, animal footprints, the features of leaves and many other topics. It was great to see everyone enjoying their learning in such a fun and exciting way.

This week we celebrate Children’s Book Week. The week will be filled with ‘magical’ activities such as bookmark making, badge making, character headband making and of course our annual Character Parades. This year’s theme is “Book an Adventure” and we look forward to celebrating the magic of reading with your children.

Our annual Book Week Character Parades will be held on Thursday, August 21st.  All students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite character. The Prep – Year 3 parade will commence at 9:15am and the Year 4 – Year 6 parade will commence at 11:40am. Both parades will be held in the hall. We invite all our families and friends to attend.

We look forward to seeing you at our Character Parades.

** FamilyLinQ Update **

FamilyLinQ welcomed Steph from ETC this week. Steph is coming in every Thursday and is here to run Parent Pathways which supports people who are working towards getting employment. If you are interested in exploring how to get work then Steph can help with things like resume writing, driving lessons, funds to purchase items needed to support your journey. Come and chat to Steph on Thursdays!

Crazy Hair Day is happening on Wednesday 27th August. FamilyLinQ is planning to have crazy hair supplies available that morning from 8am – 9am for families to get crazy with hair. Parents will be responsible for doing their child’s hair so bring your own brush (if you need one!).

FamilyLinQ is celebrating our 1st Birthday in August – can you believe we have been open for 1 year now?? We are busy planning the celebration so look out for more details to come.

Pop in any time – we have lots on:

  • Community Pantry (Monday avos) and food relief any time
  • Crafty Conversations (Tuesday mornings)
  • Kids Club activities (Tuesday – Thursday)
  • Cooking group Tuesday evenings
  • Playgroups Thursday and Friday
  • Financial support (fortnightly on Thursdays)
  • Child health, development, wellbeing supports

NAIDOC colouring competition prizes are being drawn Friday 22nd – well done to all the jarjums who entered – we have beautiful art on display in our hub now.

Have a great week everyone!

The FamilyLinQ team.
