Welcome Back to Term 2
** Principal Update **
Dear Families,
I hope this message finds you well-rested and ready to start back at school for Term 2. As we step into a new term, I want to extend a warm welcome back to all of our families after the Easter break.
The start of a new term offers an opportunity for fresh beginnings and renewed commitments. It's a chance for students, teachers, and families to set new goals and focus on the exciting challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. We are eager to continue fostering an environment where our students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, and where we can work in partnership with families.
We have a variety of engaging activities and events planned for the upcoming term that we hope will enrich your child's educational experience. Please refer to the school calendar above, the list of events down the side, for the dates and times of specific events. Please note that as the term progresses, more dates will be added in for families, as well as more information about those events.
I also wanted to pass on a few reminders to our families, as we start the term. We are entering the cooler months, and students will start to wear their jumpers and/or tracksuit pants. Please ensure that these are named. If they are unnamed, staff will have no way of returning those items to students and families. Please also ensure that full school uniform is worn by students, with a reminder, that hoodies are not part of the school uniform. Students are welcome to wear maroon or black jumpers and tracksuit pants.
We are also reviewing our 'Sun Safe' policy at Kingston State School. As part of this review, we will be sharing more information about this, publishing our revised procedure on our website. Please keep encouraging your child to put on sunscreen before leaving home in the morning. There is sunscreen available in the classrooms for your child/children to apply themselves. Please also encourage them to bring their school hats so that they are able to play outdoors during the play break.
We will have our ANZAC Day parade on Thursday 24th April from 9:00am in the Hall. All of our parents and caregivers are invited.
Once again, welcome back. Let’s make this an incredible term full of learning, growth, and achievement.
Warm regards,
Robyn Marshall
Principal
** Attendance Update **
Every Day Counts is a state wide initiative that aims to assist in improving student attendance at school through a shared commitment by students, parents, caregivers, schools and the community.
To do this, Every Day Counts promotes four key messages:
- all children should be enrolled at school and attend on every school day
- schools should monitor, communicate and implement strategies to improve regular school attendance
- truanting can place a student in unsafe situations and impact on their future employability and life choices
- attendance at school is the responsibility of everyone in the community.
