** Principal Update **
As we near the end of Term 1, we are busily planning for many exciting events in Term 2. To help you keep up to date and informed as to what is going on, we are going to use the 'School Calendar' function within our newsletters. You can access this via the top ribbon. You can also see the dates to the left, in the 'Upcoming Events' section. Check out the arrows below to show how these can be accessed.

Just a reminder, that it is an expectation that parents and visitors to our school, and all schools in Queensland, act as positive role models by speaking and behaving respectfully at all times. Please refer to the brochure below that outlines the expectations for parents and carers when considering communication and conduct choices.

** Harmony Day **
Throughout week 8, students from all Year levels worked together to show that everyone belongs in completing different activities to help celebrate Harmony Week. Our student leaders supported our younger students and encouraged them to join in the activities and the conversations. They shared information about our school and the various flags from the countries are students were born in.

** Wellbeing for Learning **
This week the students have been focusing on their power. With support of staff and peers, the students explored how to keep their power in the playground and why it is important to hold on to that power in different environments within the school.

Establishing good routines around school can assist with regular school attendance. These include:
- have a set time to go to bed
- have a set time to get out of bed
- have uniform and school bag ready the night before
- have a set time for starting and finishing breakfast
- set a time for daily homework activities
- speak about school positively
- send your child to school every school day including their birthday and the last day of term from Prep.
Avoid keeping your child away from school for reasons such as:
- birthdays
- shopping
- visiting family and friends
- if they sleep in
- looking after other children
- minor check-ups or care, such as haircuts
