** Principal Update **

The impact of Cyclone Alfred was felt far and wide. Amidst the chaos and destruction caused by the wind and rain, I wanted to thank all of our families for their patience and understanding during the time that we needed to close.  The decision to close, and subsequently open again, was made out of safety, first and foremost.  It has been wonderful to open again and have our students get back into the routine of learning again.  I also wanted to thank our Grounds staff and our Cleaners for being so diligent in making sure that our grounds and facilities were ready for our school community on Wednesday.  I also wanted to thank our teachers for ensuring that learning started back on the Wednesday for the students in the classes who need to relocate for a short time.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the Parent Teacher Interviews on Tuesday.  If you can't book online for any reason, please call the Administration Office on 3827 6222 to arrange a meeting time.  Parent-teacher interviews offer a platform for open communication between parents and teachers, fostering trust and collaboration.

Thank you,

Robyn Marshall

Principal

** Deputy Principal Update **

Over the last 7 weeks I have had the opportunity to work with students and teachers in Years 4 – 6. They have made me feel welcome in their classrooms and willing to share what they are learning, how they can improve their work and who can help them with this. As well as working with the senior classes, I have had several junior students and parents make me feel welcome while in the hall before school and walking around the school. Thank you to everyone that has made the effort to come and see me.

Wellbeing for learning

This week the students have been focusing on their power.  With support of staff, the students will explore how to keep their power in the classroom and why it is important to hold on to that power in different situations. The students have been able to talk through power with and power over and keeping their power.

Student leaders

On Friday 28 February we celebrated our student leaders with the presentation of their badges in front of family members, special guests and the whole school. They have taken on their new roles well with supporting students at breakfast club and working with Mr Tamala in preparing for the school cross country.

** Year 4 Update **

Good morning parents and carers. It has been a busy return to class, and we are hoping everyone is recovering safely. As we return and settle back into our normal routines, we are getting back in track with our learning.

Currently in Mathematics, Year 4 has been working on statistics. We have discussed how surveys and observations help us collect data to make important decisions accurately and how this is a real-world practice. We have been busy doing surveys and observations of eye colours, favourite foods, drinks, and sports in our classes as well as identifying and making charts of which month has the most birthdays in our classes.

We are also starting to plan our Science assessment. Our Year 4 classes will build their own board game that uses magnetic forces. We promise some pictures of the board games at the end of the term.

Finally, in English, we are starting to practice how to perform as a “live TV reporter” pretending we are at some fancy movie awards. We use our knowledge of imaginative texts, to summarize, rate and recommend a movie.

From the Year 4 teaching team.
