Help ready your child for NAPLAN by attending the Twilight information session at 6 PM on Thursday, 6 March. In collaboration with P&Cs Qld, the session will provide you with valuable information on NAPLAN and how it supports the learning progress of your child. Additionally, you will learn tips on supporting your child to do their best and how NAPLAN’s tailored test design will adapt to each student.

** Deputy Principal Update **
Reading through the Australian Curriculum
A priority area in our Annual Implementation Plan is reading teaching and learning. Our teaching team have been collaborating to review the teaching of reading through the Australian Curriculum. We have focused on developing whole-school explicit instructional routines for teaching reading, systematic synthetic phonics and word study to teach word reading, refining vocabulary instruction, developing language comprehension through strategic shared and dialogic reading, and building fluency. We look forward to sharing this work with you throughout the year. Please view the following department video on beginning readers, to deepen your understanding of how we learn to read and how to support your little readers at home.

Wellbeing for Learning
As Term 1 continues, students have been working hard to be web makers, complete self-check-ins and use breathing techniques. Our current wellbeing for learning focus is power over or power with. Power with, is working together as a team, sharing ideas and building each other up. Power over, is when we try to control others, telling them what to do and don’t let others speak.
Students are working to demonstrate ‘power with’, with their actions. These actions may include, listening to others, cooperating, providing positive feedback and helping others. We encourage you to discuss this with your child/ren at home.

School gates
If your child/ren are accessing the school grounds in the morning via the Laughlin St gate beside the staff carpark, please ensure they use the pedestrian gate and it is closed after entering the school grounds. This practice will help to ensure the safety and security of our students.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Parent teacher interviews will take place on Tuesday, 18 March, 2025 from 3-6pm in the school hall.
Our teachers are looking forward to sharing with you their observations about your child’s academic, social and emotional development and the next steps in their learning journey.
Each interview will be scheduled for 10 minutes. To book an interview time, click the following link: https://kingstonss.schoolzineplus.com/view-session/7 This will take you to our school newsletter website and prompt you to complete a booking.
