** Principal Update **

Welcome back to the 2025 school year!  It has been wonderful to see our students return from their holiday ready to learn.  Our students have settled back in to learning and have been creating their new learning routines.  They have also been connecting with their friends from last year, as well as making new friends.  We look forward to sharing more about what is happening in the classrooms each week in our newsletter.

Our newsletter will be our main form of communication and will be sent via email to all families each Friday.  In each edition, you can expect celebrations of teaching and learning, updates from various staff members, departmental updates as well as updates to school processes.  Important dates for events across the school will also be shared here as well.  We welcome your feedback about what you would like to see in the newsletter.  You can pass this feedback on by emailing admin@kingstonss.eq.edu.au.

** Staffing Update **

Joining the Senior Leadership Team this year is Mrs Rachel Argue as Deputy Principal.  Mrs Argue brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role and we welcome her to our Kingston State School community.  She will be supporting our upper years students and teachers.

We have also had some other staff joins us and we are welcoming more staff in various roles over the coming days.  Our Week 2 edition of the newsletter will introduce those new staff members who are going to contribute to the outcomes of students in our school.

** School Process Update **

From Monday 3rd February, there will be a change to the gate opening times.  If you are needing to access the school between 9:15 and 2:30, the only pedestrian access will be through Gate 3 on Juers Road.  That is the gate that will lead straight into Family Linq and Student Administration.

Signs will be erected on other pedestrian gates outlining opening times.  Pedestrian access via other gates will be from 8:15 to 9:15 and 2:30 to 3:15 only.  Please see the sign that will be on the gates below.

We understand that parents and carers want to wait on school grounds before and after school to drop off and pick up thier children.  We have dedicated waiting areas for parents and carers in the following areas:

* Tuckshop Shed

* Prep Undercover Area

* Library Alcove

All students from Year 1 - Year 6 line up in the Hall from 8:30am.  If you are waiting at the Hall, we ask that you wait in the Library Alcove.  This is an undercover area for you and waiting here ensures the path remains clear.  We are requesting this as when parents and carers wait on the path, access is restricted for staff, students and other parents and carers who are trying to move through the area.  As per last year, children are welcome to wait quietly and safely with their parent/carer in this space.

We have some students who catch a bus home after school each day.  This year, we have a new waiting area.  Instead of meeting in the Prep area, students will come to the meeting point near the First Nations Room after the bell.  A staff member will meet the students there, take the roll and walk with them to the bus stop.  Students who already catch the bus are aware of this waiting space.  If you are planning for your child to catch a bus home, can you please contact the school administration on 3827 6222.
